The Best Man by L.A. Witt (5 Stars)

This was an extremely steamy story with a couple of really nice guys and some challenging ex-boyfriends. I adored Jon and Liam. They were both looking to have some uncomplicated fun with each other. This made their sex-fest very enjoyable and hot. It got even better as they started to fall for each other. They didn’t play head games, but there was enough tension in the story to keep it interesting. Plenty of dialogue made their chemistry pretty obvious. Their relationships with their ex-boyfriends also brought some challenges for each of them.

Elements of Retrofit (Thomas Elkin #1) by N.R. Walker (4 Stars)

Sweet office romance set in the beautiful world of architecture.

Thomas Elkin is a 44-year old extremely talented and successful architect. Recently divorced and finally admitting that he is gay, has led him to feel like he can live his life as himself. His newest intern, 22-year old Cooper Jones, is everything Thomas wants, except that he’s too young. These two will have to work together to see if they can get past their age difference among other issues.

I really enjoyed this sweet romance. Both of the characters are mature, which made the age difference not be as much of an issue. I also enjoyed the banter around their age difference, showing that they recognized it and could laugh about it. Thomas is a relatively innocuous character who is a bit lonely and a huge workaholic. Cooper is a very straightforward person who says exactly what is on his mind, making him a joy to listen to. The family drama on Thomas’s side added some additional interesting complications.

My only slight issue with the book was the lack of a strong emotional connection to the characters. It might have been because we didn’t get Cooper’s point of view, or it might have been the length of the story with so much time spent on the architecture side. Ironically, I really enjoyed learning more about architects and thought sharing these details made the story even more interesting. I loved the trip to Australia and the perspective the author brought to the story.

An easy read, this entertaining look at love and architecture was very enjoyable.

Understanding Jeremy (Discovering Me #2) by A.M. Arthur (4.5 Stars)

This was a much lighter read than the first one in the series. The relationship between Jeremy and Cole deepens as they learn more about each other. I was very relieved that the blurb for the story, regarding the pregnancy, only took up about 5 pages. The real focus was on these two determining where they fit in each other’s lives for the long haul. I truly believed in their HEA and was left with a smile at the end.

Unearthing Cole (Discovering Me #1) by A.M. Arthur (4.5 Stars)

This was not an easy book to read from the standpoint that Cole has not had a pleasant life. His parents were hoarders, and now that they both passed away, Cole has to clean up the mess. He finally escaped a physically and mentally abusive relationship, but even years of therapy haven’t completely freed his mind. Jeremy was the best thing that ever happened to Cole, and their relationship seemed so natural and easy. We only get Cole’s POV in this story, but I’m looking forward to Jeremy’s in the next story. The story ended with an HFN, but with a little imagination, I could see it as an HEA if you didn’t want to continue the series.
