Changes Coming Down (Anthology: Hunting Under Covers) by Kaje Harper (5 Stars)

A beautiful romance about three people already in a pretty solid relationship. I enjoyed the glimpses into how they met and how their connection grew. I liked the different aspects of the story including the mystery surrounding the death of the elderly couple.  It was wonderful how they were always there for each other. I was on the edge of my seat for a good part of the story, because I had no idea where the author was taking their relationship. Fortunately, she never failed to impress me with the different issues she brought to the table.

Incursion by Aleksandr Voinov (4.5 Stars)

Impressive sci-fi adventure with romantic undertones. Told from Kyle’s POV, the author did a great job conveying the different emotions he was experiencing throughout the story. Whether it was the phantom pain after losing his legs, the question about who he could trust, or the experience of space travel, I felt like I was with him the entire time. Some of the medical treatments made me a little queasy.

The Truth About Riley by Henrietta Clarke (4.5 Stars)

A very slow-building relationship story dealing with the psychological impact of physical burn scars.  Cameron and Riley spend significant time on the phone having very lengthy conversations, but most of them revolve around lighter topics. Having deeper and more emotionally compelling discussions would have ratcheted this story up a notch. However, it was still extremely enjoyable to watch them fall in love through their talks.  I felt that the ending was really the beginning of their lives together. I am definitely looking forward to the next book, and this is one of the few times I agreed that the characters needed more than one book to tell their full story.

Taboo for You by Anyta Sunday (3.5 Stars)

I really enjoyed parts of this story, like the best friends to lovers theme, while some parts just didn’t work for me at all, like being in the head of a 15 year-old while he’s thinking of having sex.  The love and adoration that Luke and Sam had for each other, each in their own way, was very sweet.  It was enjoyable to watch them spend time together and deal with Sam’s son, Jeremy. While I liked the issues related to Jeremy, I didn’t enjoy getting his POV.  It also bothered me that Luke and Sam finally move their relationship forward, but it happens under false pretenses. There were too many conversations that they avoided having even though they were supposedly best friends.
