Dirty Laundry by Heidi Cullinan (5 Stars)

I absolutely loved this exceptionally well-written, dialogue intensive, character driven romance with some extremely steamy and kinky love scenes. Adam and Denver both have some issues that they need help with and find that they are the perfect people to help each other out. Adam suffers from severe OCD, and Denver is the first person to completely accept him and provide him with a sense of security he’s never had before. Denver has some learning issues that have forced him to limit his options in life. Adam is more than willing and capable to help him with this challenge.

The story takes place over several months which really allows us to see the characters go through some life-altering changes, truly fall in love with each other, and provide for a realistic relationship with typical ups and downs. Denver also has a penchant for dirty-talk, and he is positively wonderful at it! I really liked how the author alternated between the exact words Denver used and Adam’s summary of what Denver was saying. I think that helped it to avoid sounding cheesy at all. There is quite a bit of sex, but not enough to overwhelm the plot at all. Their play included bondage, spanking, anal, oral, and gags.

I’m hoping that Louisa, the one other true friendship that Adam developed during the story, will get her own story.

Once a Brat (Kinky Cupid #1) by Kim Dare (5 Stars)

Very enjoyable erotic romance with a touch of fun! On the longer side of a typical Dare short, this work really showcased her talented writing style. Although it was light on dialogue, the inner thoughts of these two very interesting characters was entertaining. Bret was definitely a brat in his thoughts and actions, and it was a quite the kick to be inside his head. Marcus was a little bit more serious, but really seemed to enjoy Bret’s antics. It made for a great relationship.

As usual, Dare always seems to bring some unique element to each of her stories. The way she addressed the importance of a safe word or action was perfect!

Includes BDSM play including spanking, gagging, and bondage.

Someone to Keep Me (Collars and Cuffs #3) by K.C. Wells and Parker Williams (2 Stars)

He knew to the bottom of his heart that he wanted somebody to keep him.

Scott Keating has been living a very sheltered life with extremely controlling parents. Once the opportunity to leave home and start a new life presents itself, he’s more than willing to take advantage of it. Although things didn’t work out as planned, he’s saved by Ben Winters. Now Scott just needs to see if Ben will keep him forever.

I adored Scott and truly felt sorry for him. His family didn’t treat him with any love, and it appeared that he was kept in his home without any friends for most of his life. It really showed his inner strength and desperation that he was willing to travel around the world to find a new life.

Ben rescues Scott from the airport, but that was one of the few nice things he did during the story. Overall, Ben was not appreciative of anything Scott did for him. They also didn’t have much of a relationship outside of Scott playing the housekeeper. Ben was supposed to be a Dom, but his actions and immature behavior didn’t portray him as a very good one. Ben was temperamental and seemed to lose it at the most inopportune times. I was hoping for a romantic story with Scott finding true happiness, but this felt more like a guide on a poorly handled Dom/sub relationship.

The writing was smooth, and it was impressive that two people wrote this story. Although this is part of a series, and I loved the first one, I think this can be read as a standalone.

A look at the emotional draw of belonging to somebody.

Pup (Guards of Folsom #1) by SJD Peterson (4 Stars)

Can an old dog teach a young pup some new tricks?

Micah “Pup” Slayde is a young, sexy submissive who suffers from ADD. Tackett Austin is a much older Dom who has never been in a steady relationship. Micah has wanted Tackett since the moment he first set eyes on him at the Guards of Folsom club. Micah is convinced he can be in a 24/7 D/s relationship with Tackett. Tackett isn’t sure he can be in any relationship let alone with somebody who is as young as Micah, especially with Micah’s issue with focusing.

The story is told from both of their POVs which was very helpful and necessary. Unfortunately, it didn’t really feel like Micah suffered from ADD to any kind of debilitating degree which made the plot feel a bit contrived. Outside of this issue, it was an enjoyable story.

Micah was absolutely charming and adorable. Working as a bartender at the club, we saw his cheeky side as he tried to reel Tackett in. Tackett was a strong character, and although a bit annoying at times with his rough treatment of Micah, he was a good guy. He truly did want to help Micah in any way he could. The story takes place over the course of a few weeks during which they spend the entire time together. You get a good glimpse of how they get along outside of just having sex. There were some really sweet scenes with them hanging out while they got to know each other. There were also a lot of scenes including sex and discipline, but it didn’t overwhelm the story. There was a believable HEA, and a chance to see them again in future stories of this series.

If you’re looking for a fun little romp in the full-time D/s world, this is a great story.

Warnings: Excessive use of the word “pup” and “boy”, and BDSM play including the use of paddles, crops, and a cock cage.
