The second story in this series is told by Lee, and we get to see the relationship between him and Dirk progress. The focus of the story is on saving their fire station from closure. It served as a nice backdrop to the strengthening of their relationship. We also got to know Lee quite a bit better which was a real treat. These two guys really seem to connect well with each other, and this made for an enjoyable romance.

Redemption by Fire (By Fire #1) by Andrew Grey (4 Stars)
Enjoyable series which I read straight through. All three books focus on one couple, and I liked the way each book ended with its own HEA. The first story, “Redemption by Fire”, is told by Dirk. He is such a complete jerk in how he treats others, but at the same time, he never hesitates to risk his own life to save somebody. Dirk’s father is extremely homophobic which makes it harder for Dirk to admit he might be gay. Lee somehow manages to see the good side of Dirk. As Lee helps Dirk recover from an injury, the two spend some time together and begin a nice relationship. Lee is one of the nicest guys around, and I loved that he never took grief from Dirk. The time they spent in the fire station was also interesting.
BAMF by S.J.D. Peterson (5 Stars)
The story starts off with a nice bit of kinky sex, and then quickly turns into a suspenseful and exciting romance. I enjoyed spending time with them as they got to know each other and their relationship progressed. I appreciated the realistic ending as it related to both the suspense and the romance.
Puzzle Me This by Eli Easton (3 Stars)
Playing games can be fun as long as it isn’t with somebody’s heart.
Luke Schumaker is a video game designer who is fortunate enough to work at home. One day, he discovers a crossword puzzle with an extra clue and realizes somebody is interested in him. Wheelchair-bound since birth, Alex Shaw writes crossword puzzles for a living. He’s been watching Luke through his window and decides it’s time for them to meet.
Told from Luke’s point of view, the story focused on whether or not he could spend his life with somebody unable to walk. Luke was a nice guy who was constantly throwing out one-liners, but he was a bit immature in his behavior, especially as he became move involved with Alex. Unfortunately, Alex was also a bit immature. For example, he had a rating scale which he used to determine if two people were good enough for each other. It would have been fine to do that if the focus was on personality traits, like compassion, instead of physical attributes.
There is a lot of sex in this story starting from almost their first meeting. I would have liked to have seen that time spent developing the relationship and characters more. I really enjoyed the puzzle angle.
Sex-packed story with a unique use of puzzles, this nice little short was an easy read.
