Riley was a fun character with a quick wit, and the story is basically focused around him figuring out what he really wants out of life. I really didn’t get to know Stan at all, and I didn’t understand their relationship. There was very little dialogue between them, and we really didn’t see them spend any time together. We were just told about moments of time in their past, but it still didn’t paint a picture of a relationship. The bulk of this story wasn’t very happy, but instead was a little sad with too much angst for my tastes.

Butterfly Hunter (Butterfly Hunter #1) by Julie Bozza (3 Stars)
I enjoyed watching Dave take Nicholas on a search for a special butterfly, and I loved the descriptions of the land and the butterflies. Unfortunately, I assumed it would serve as the backdrop for the development of a romantic relationship, but instead it was the stronger focus for the entire story. I still don’t understand their romance, since I never saw the two of them really get to know each other. The entire story is told from David’s point of view, and yet I still barely feel like I know him. I couldn’t tell you what happened between him and Denise, the former love of his life, even though they are still best friends. Several parts of the story felt this way. We were told something happened, but not exactly what happened or why it happened. Nicholas has an issue, but more than half the book passes before we find out what it is, and during that entire time, Nicholas plays this elusive character who barely shares anything about himself. The epilogue was sweet, and those who really enjoyed this story will definitely want to read the sequel, Of Dreams and Ceremonies.
Freshman: Uncut (Ivory Towers #1) by Daisy Harris (3 Stars)
A grad student, Shane, hooks up with a freshman, Angel. Although both guys seem to have good hearts, Angel has serious issues with communicating anything. He pretty much comes across as a jerk which made it really hard to like him. The majority of the story is focused on their sexual experiences before they even get to know each other. I just found it very frustrating to watch this non-relationship in action. There is a teaser at the end of this HFN book which made it clear that Angel’s issue doesn’t get any better.
I didn’t realize this was part 1 of a serial book. I didn’t care for the characters, so I won’t be reading the rest of the series. The writing was fine, and I would read other books by this author, but not this series.
