I really enjoyed parts of this story, like the best friends to lovers theme, while some parts just didn’t work for me at all, like being in the head of a 15 year-old while he’s thinking of having sex. The love and adoration that Luke and Sam had for each other, each in their own way, was very sweet. It was enjoyable to watch them spend time together and deal with Sam’s son, Jeremy. While I liked the issues related to Jeremy, I didn’t enjoy getting his POV. It also bothered me that Luke and Sam finally move their relationship forward, but it happens under false pretenses. There were too many conversations that they avoided having even though they were supposedly best friends.

The Family We’re Born With (Finding Family #1) by Kaje Harper (4.5 Stars)
Sweet holiday romance, with an established couple, dealing with family issues. It was painful to watch them interact with Jesse’s family, but it was also very realistic. In addition to getting their POV, we get Sam’s and Rick’s. Sam is the half-brother given up for adoption, and Rick is Sam’s brother who ran away from home. Unfortunately, they are also dealing with some serious family issues. The little glimpse into Rick’s life is the set-up for a future story which I’m looking forward to reading.

Wolf Nip (Granite Lake Wolves #6) by Vivian Arend (4 Stars)
Very sweet shifter story with nice characters and a cute plot. Mark is perfectly adorable with his willingness to wait for Tessa to agree to be his mate while also helping to make her business dreams come true. Tessa was a fun ball of energy, and endearing once she sees the light on the real definition of love. Can be read as a stand-alone, but it’s better as part of the series.
Secrets and Ink by Lou Harper (4 Stars)
I really enjoyed this semi-romantic story with a little murder mystery. Jem is the real winner here, and I loved being in his head. A former rentboy and drug user, he is now just enjoying his boring, but cursed, life. He believes he was cursed, and his bad luck would certainly make you agree with him. I wish the relationship with Nick was a bit more developed, but that’s just the romantic in me. Ended at 90% on the Kindle.
