Dead Man and the Lustful Spirit by Lou Harper (3 Stars)

A free story set in the same world as Dead Man and the Restless Spirits, this is about one of the cases that Denton and Bran work on together.  It focused mostly on the case instead of on the characters or their relationship. Unfortunately, I didn’t find the case interesting enough to hold my attention.

Worth a Shot (FIT Guys #2) by Kim Dare (5 Stars)

I adored this sweet and sexy romance with heavy character development. Tony and Donovan finally connect after admiring each other from afar. Donovan was struggling to move forward after leaving a somewhat mentally abusive and sexually pathetic boyfriend. Tony, who was protective without being controlling, was committed to helping Don replace those bad memories. There were plenty of extremely steamy scenes with lovely dialogue to help make the emotional connection. There was a bit of angst, since neither of these guys shared that they wanted to take the relationship further. This is the second book in the series, and I loved it as much as the first, Worth Waiting For.

My Subby Valentine by Amber Kell (3 Stars)

I enjoyed this story at first.  It was a cute little romance with a sub who knew he wanted to belong to specific Dom even though they hadn’t actually met. However, when Mason’s past comes back to haunt him, the plot went over the top. Although serving as a way to bring Kit and Mason together faster, the story was too short for a kidnapping, violence against a dog, and a gunshot wound.  It caused the romance to fall to the wayside, and didn’t leave me convinced that these two even knew each other by the end.

Eight Days by Cardeno C. (5 Stars)

Light-hearted enjoyable romance between two best friends. I adored Josh, especially since he recognized that he was often clueless about even the most important things in life. Maccabe and Josh both had some issues to work through on the communication side. I enjoyed the dialogue and watching these two deal with life and family. I also liked how the story took place over more than a decade, but each chapter focused on a day during Hanukkah.
